The Selen Apaydın Approach series offers innovative, research-based piano teaching resources for educators guiding students from beginner to early intermediate levels. Developed through an independent doctoral research conducted between 2018 and 2025, the new book “Resynthesizing Beginner Piano Education” critically examines widely used piano methods, identifying their strengths and shortcomings while proposing innovative solutions.
The book offers a comprehensive academic resource, featuring a detailed literature review, method comparisons, and tables documenting student progress following the use of the Boost Start methodical materials developed by Apaydın. The supplementary section contains these comparison tables along with scores used in the lessons. These scores have been compiled and are available for separate purchase in three volumes under the name Boost Start.
This approach creates a model for developing new, contemporary teaching materials with a fresh design. It is specifically suited for beginner students aged 12 and above, while remaining adaptable for younger or more advanced learners.
The series is also available in Turkish editions.
